Verhoeven Talks About 'Black Book'

The Guardian interviewed Paul Verhoeven about his latest film, Black Book. It is Verhoeven's first Dutch film since Flesh And Blood in 1985. Since then he made US films which included some of the biggest box office successes (Basic Instinct, Robocop, Total Recall) and one of the biggest flops (Showgirls).

I am really looking forward to seeing Black Book. Verhoeven has always been one to push the edges of film. For me one of the greatest war films was Soldier Of Orange (Soldaat van Oranje). It's a story of the Nazi occupation of Holland and is unmissable. I also liked Turkish Delight (Turks fruit) and The Fourth Man (De Vierde man).

Soldaat van Oranje has been on my list of 'to see' films. You always have such great taste....I think I may have to hire you as a personal film consultant.

Yep, it is amazing. See it as soon as you can. Turkish Delight and The Fourth Man are well worth checking out too.
